History & Mission

The Lasley Centre is the leading dance studio in Warrenton, Virginia. The Centre opened its doors at Vint Hill in June 2011, with the goal of providing excellent training in ballet, jazz, modern, and other styles of dance for students in Fauquier, Prince William, and the surrounding counties of Northern Virginia. The Lasley Centre for the Performing Arts is committed not only to training students excellently, but to also establishing a positive environment in which the whole person can grow and thrive. This means it is crucial that our instructors are well-trained in their fields, and it is equally important that they are willing and capable of nurturing the children and adults under their mentoring, beyond their skill areas. It is the goal of our school that students will be well-prepared to enter the arts as a career choice, if they desire, but if they do not, that their time spent with us will have enriched them greatly in other important areas of life as well.

Staff Philosophy

We are the only dance school in the area with a fully professional staff; however, because it is our experience that a professional performance background does not necessarily equate with the ability to teach effectively, all of our staff are screened not only for their backgrounds but their ability to instruct and communicate concepts in a multitude of ways, because we recognize that each student learns differently. We also believe that every word spoken leaves an indelible mark. Therefore, it is our mandate that great care be given to the manner in which we speak, give correction, and provide encouragement to every dance student - during, before and after class - so as to know with absolute certainty that everything that we pour into a child’s life has a positive impact.
